Quick start
Create an API key and make your first request in two minutes.
The RoWarden API lets your own programs, such as a Discord bot, a staff portal or a script, do what you do in the dashboard: look players up, ban and warn them, announce to every server, and read staff, analytics and the audit log. Everything goes through the same checks as the dashboard, and every action appears in your audit log with the source API.
1. Create a key
Open Developer in the dashboard menu, name the key, choose the experiences it may reach and the permissions it gets, then pick when it expires. Copy the key when it is shown: it appears only once.
You can create keys only for experiences where your role has the Create and use API keys permission. The experience owner always has it and can give it to a role under Roles.
2. Check that it works
curl https://rowarden.com/api/v1/me \
-H "Authorization: Bearer rwk_your_key"The answer lists your key and what it can do in each experience right now:
{
"data": {
"key": { "id": "12", "name": "Moderation bot", "hint": "…a1b2", "scopes": ["moderation.ban"], "created_at": "2026-11-04T10:00:00.000Z", "expires_at": "2027-02-02T10:00:00.000Z" },
"experiences": [{ "id": "34", "name": "My Game", "permissions": ["moderation.ban"] }]
}
}3. Do something
Ban a player, using the experience id from the answer above:
curl -X POST https://rowarden.com/api/v1/experiences/34/moderation/bans \
-H "Authorization: Bearer rwk_your_key" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: ban-builderman-2026-11-04" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{ "target": "Builderman", "reason": "Exploiting", "duration_seconds": 86400 }'Prefer clicking? The interactive API reference lets you open any endpoint and press Try it out with your key.
